AT-lp 60 audio technica turntable setting up, recommendations and how.

Hey, if you are a Malaysian and interested in buying turntables.
I have a few suggestions but i bought the most affordable and most easy to set up for beginners. it sounds great, no problems with it at all. but if you're just starting to collect vinyls, you may need to know some stuff.

ok so what i bought is an audio technica for RM500++ from Amazon.com. the turntable is kinda cheap but the shipping cost kinda makes it pricey. but anyway its really fast and in good condition. There are some brands you can buy locally but good ones costs up to RM800++. But i assure you amazon is a good dealer, if you have any problem you can immediately ask for an exchange or new one.

1. SETTING UP

Just follow the instructions.
After hooking the band, (make sure it's on properly) and turn it manually 10 times. (don't remove the tied armtone yet.) ok so after spinning to make sure its in, place the turntable securely on a flat surface. Do not place the turntable near the amp which may cause heat and damage the turntable.
also make sure it's not exposed to too much vibrations it will damage the lower part.

2. PLUGGING IT IN

IMPORTANT!

As you know malaysia has a higher voltage than USA which is where this turntable came from. This was the part that i did wrong. Resulting in a non-working turntable. I kinda went nuts and depressed at that time because i didn't know this important piece of information so. Yeah moving on.
Do not use an universal adapter or try to plug it in to the socket.
This will blow your turntable's fuse and it won't work. it's practically broken.
so what you need is to buy a step down transformer. It is available in any electronic stores just ask the person in charge for it. it's not that expensive around RM100++. But it works perfectly.
so that is the most important part not to get wrong. make sure you read the power needed on the back and ask it to the person to really make sure.

3. HANDLING A VINYL

So after hooking it up, you'll need a vinyl to put into it.
To pull it out of the sleeve, make sure to not touch the grooves it will damage it and make scratches.
ok so put you palm on the edge and you finger on the sticker label. pull it out slowly.
just make sure you don't touch the grooves.

4 STORING VINYLs

- make sure its not horizontal, because the weight of other vinyls may damage the record
- store it vertically and make sure it's not leaning too much.
- make sure there's no heat, this will bend the record
- make sure it's not humid, mold will grow
- brush after playing it.

Ok so i think that's what you need to know for now. For turntable options, i don't know yet because i am using and automatic one. Anyway any questions just ask me.
